Custom's Enforcement Affecting Your Supply Chain - Key Compliance Strategies

Thursday , March 18 2010

Overview of Custom's Enforcement Presentation

Two of U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Priority Trade Initiatives for 2009 focused on Revenue Collection and Penalties, and we can expect that CBP will continue its increased enforcement efforts in the New Year.  With continued audit activity, NAFTA verifications, import safety concerns, and other enforcement actions on the rise, along with new enforcement initiatives related to the Importer Security Filing requirements, importers must remain on their toes to avoid supply chain delays and costly liquidated damages or penalty assessments.  The key to any successful trade compliance program is an understanding of the risks and a clear message of compliance from senior management.  Trade compliance awareness, communication throughout the company, and proactive internal controls are going to be more important than ever.
